Starts With Home is a city-wide non-partisan campaign to build public and political support for addressing the housing affordability crisis in Ottawa.
The Starts With Home platform was developed in 2021 by over 40 community partners for a sea-change municipal election in 2022. It was endorsed by 160 local organizations, businesses and groups, including CHEO, Ottawa Board of Trade, and the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity: a diverse range of organizations that shows just how important affordable housing is to our city.
The platform contains three key messages and six clear actions for our city to follow and build on:
